Keep ‘er movin stress-free with About Time Moving!

Quinn Smith opened About Time Moving Systems in August 2014. Since then he has built a solid reputation of 100% customer satisfaction! Visit their website here and keep them in mind when you make your next move, your back (and friends) will thank you.

Q. What types of specific services does About Time offer?
A. Our target market for local moving is three-to-five-bedroom homes that are 2500 to 5500 square feet. On occasion, if the local business slows down, we will target some long-distance jobs, but as of now we prefer to travel to Illinois and Indiana. We need to focus more on commercial opportunities in our area. We also offer a professional packing service – we can come in and pack up your kitchen, or your whole home. It’s up to the customer what level of service they require.

Q. Are you licensed and insured?
A. Absolutely! Technically we work in the transportation industry but operate as a household goods professional mover. The legal eagle (myself) and our staff must make sure we maintain this to stay in business by using good practices. It also protects our customers from the movers who operate illegally within our industry.

Q. Can you share some references or testimonials from previous customers?
A. Yes! We consider ourselves a review-based company. Feel free to check out our reviews on Google, Facebook, and on the Nextdoor app. If you live in the Racine and Kenosha area there is a good chance you personally know someone who has left us an honest review.

Q. How do you determine the cost of a move, are there any hidden
fees or extra charges I should be aware of?
A. Local moves are typically billed by the hour. As far as any hidden fees or extra charges go, the more prepared you are on moving day is one major factor that could be the difference between a good move versus a bad move. If you’re up from 1am until 4am packing boxes before our staff shows up on moving day, it’s typically a disaster and makes the move take longer and therefore costing the customer more money. You get what you put into your move by having everything packed and in ready to move condition. One final piece of advice is to try to get a good nights sleep the night before moving day.

Q. What sets your moving company apart from others in the industry?
A. I believe our extremely positive reviews online, our can-do attitudes, and our proven system we have in place sets us apart from our competitors. Building strong Google reviews was one of the major foundations since the day we opened.
We put a strong emphasis on putting the customers needs first, being efficient, and having fun on moving day. Let’s face it: moving sucks. Typically, we make fun of each other and laugh to get through the day. It’s a hard job, but we make the best of it.

Q. How do you ensure the safety and security of the items being moved?
A. We pad and wrap all furniture before it is carried out of the home, and unwrap the furniture at the new home. We have four moving trucks that have three points of access, air ride suspension, 10-11 dozen moving blankets (we call them pads) along with lots of other equipment to set up our staff for success.  We lay down floor runners, door jams that protect the corners of walls, and railings. Our staff also uses door pads before we start the move, and before we start the unloading process at your home. We literally have you covered!

Q. What is your team’s experience and training?
A. Our company provides a 30-day training program to our new hires. Our new hires watch us perform a move on their first day, are told to watch and not move anything so they have an idea of what to expect and how our system works.

Q. How do you handle customer complaints or issues that may arise during a move?
A. Moving is a top ten most stressful thing one can go through. As the owner, I personally deal with any complaints or issues that may arise on a move. The sooner we get from how this happened to how will this get resolved is my main focus.

Q. Can you tell us about some of the Downtown Kenosha business you’ve helped move? And what was that experience like?
A. Our experiences moving Downtown Kenosha businesses has been nothing short of amazing. Meeting new people and proving our staff is qualified to do these moves has been extremely rewarding. We thank all Downtown Kenosha businesses for trusting us with their moves.

Q. How did you come up with the name About Time Movers?
A. About Time Moving has two separate meanings. The first is most moves are billed by the hour. Hence the About Time name. Secondly, I worked for another mover for 15 years and told myself it was time that I did something for myself rather than work for another mover. I took a risky chance, and so far it has paid off.

Q. What do you love about Downtown Kenosha?
A. I love being by Lake Michigan, walking places in Downtown Kenosha versus driving all over the place, and it took quite some time for our potential customers to trust us with their moving needs. I moved here from Milwaukee a little over eleven years ago and quickly learned that our service had to be so good it would have to be almost impossible for customers to not give us a chance.

Q. What does Quinn like to do in his off time?
A. Off time? What is that? I love watching sports, playing with my cats, doing home improvements, and talking to my neighbors.
