Holiday Memories w/ Joy of Lulu Birds

The holidays are always very important to small businesses and to show our support we decided to find out what is going on this holiday season at Lulu Birds 5717 6th Avenue) as we sit down with owner Joy Ermert for this exclusive holiday Q&A.

How is your business prepared for the holiday season?
We’re stocked up on fun antique gifts! Loads of goodies created by local artisans are ready to wow and impress their lucky recipients!

Is your business doing anything special for the holidays this year?
We will be part of an exclusive shopping event along with four other great shops just before Christmas. Watch our Facebook page for details!

What is your overall favorite holiday memory?
The year my Grandma gave me a baby doll and cradle. She made her clothes and the bedding for the cradle. I snuck away from the crowd at her house to go be alone with my new treasures and my Grandma abandoned her guests to come sit on the floor and play with me. She made Christmas special.

What is your fondest holiday memory?
My parents bundling us up and the entire family getting in the car to go see the Christmas lights on Christmas Lane.

Where would your family shop for the holidays when you were a kid?
We loved the Leader Store and JC Penney’s Downtown.

What is the best holiday gift you ever received?
A pair of earrings from my Dad. We were shopping together and he saw me looking at a pair of earrings at the jewelry counter. I put them back because I was shopping for my siblings. He went back and asked the lady behind the counter what I was looking at and got them. I was so surprised when I opened them Christmas morning.

What is the worst holiday gift you ever received?
A DVD of a movie my husband wanted to see… from my husband.

Do you think you’re on Santa’s nice list or naughty list this year?
Nice list for sure!
