My friend Kevin Ervin and I recently stopped down at Kaiser’s Pizza and Pub, 510 57th Street for their half-price Monday pizza special. We arrived about 5pm and the place was already starting to fill up, but we were greeted immediately.
Kaiser’s offers a specialty cocktail menu which looked tantalizing. I started with a Jamaican Me Crazy – it’s not only fun to say, the mix of rums and pineapple juice create a sweet concoction.
Kevin and I looked over the appetizers while waiting for our drinks. I was set on their fried green beans, one of my favorite items at Kaiser’s – and I was not disappointed as they came out crisp and delicious.
On half-price pizza night at Kaiser’s, one has to go with the pizza, and that we did. We each got our own medium pizza. Kevin ordered a classic combo: sausage and mushroom. I ordered their veggie pizza: spinach, mushroom, onion, and green pepper; with artichokes added. Our server, Lisa, was a delight through the whole experience – serving up our appetizers and drinks in a timely manner with a smile.
When our pizzas arrived, we were overwhelmed when the table was immediately filled with deliciousness. Both of our pizzas were cooked to perfection and with our appetizers, there was no way we could have each ate two medium pizzas. But we put in a valiant effort, Kaiser’s flavorful thin crust, thick red sauce, and fresh toppings made it addictive and hard to resist.
