Q. How did you get the idea or concept for the business?
A. I finished graduate school in 2016 with a Master of the Arts degree in Book Publishing, but I wasn’t finding any jobs in the area, so I decided to make one! I combined my love for people and customer service with my passion for books and created Blue House Books.

Q. What products and services do you offer?
A. Blue House Books is Kenosha’s only full-service, independent bookstore, which means I offer a little of all things bookish: all genres and age groups; literary gifts like jewelry, drinkware, candles, stickers; puzzles and limited toys; journals; and other book accessories like book lights and holders.
I will also be launching children’s storytime soon. There will be limited availability with several sessions two days a week, so that we’re all spaced out and comfortable. Keep an eye on our social media for more information coming soon.

Q. What do you love about Downtown Kenosha?
A. I love the progress our downtown has made in the last few years. I remember growing up in Kenosha and thinking there was never anything to do. Through the vision and ambition of local business owners, our downtown has become a beautiful, diverse, and exciting destination with amazing food, drinks, lodging, and shopping. I absolutely love being part of this community.

Q. How would you describe your business to potential customers?
A. Blue House Books is Kenosha’s only full-service, independent bookstore. There is a book out there for everyone, whether you’re an avid reader or not. My job is to help you find it.

Q. What do you offer that stands out from other shops?
A. The inventory at Blue House Books is very carefully selected. You won’t just find the bestselling books, you will find quality literature, important educational tools, and stories that have meaning. It’s also the perfect place to shop for book lovers, with a selection of literary themed gifts in addition to amazing books.
