LULU BIRDS – Brings the perfect blend to your home

LULU BIRDS – Brings the perfect blend to your home
Lulu Birds is a specialty shop located at 720 58th Street.

Joy Schweitzer Ermert opened her quaint gift and furniture shop which blends the old with the new to bring out your unique personality, on 57th Street back in 2015. The store quickly outgrew the square footage and they moved to their new location at 720 58th Street in 2017, and now this location is bursting at the seams with great items.

Lulu Birds has quickly become a favorite Downtown location for treasure seekers looking for the perfect accent piece for themselves, or a great gift for another. With it’s consistently rotating inventory, Lulu Birds always has something new to see – find them on Facebook, they are always posting great pics of new arrivals to the shop. Regular customers are always pleasantly surprised to walk into a new store every time they visit.

“Whether you are just looking for a little accent piece, to a complete redecorating job, we can help you get on the right path by carefully mixing vintage and new items to curate the perfect blend for your home,” Ermert said.

With her husband Kevin and friends, and amazing employees providing her that helping hand we all need in life, Lulu Birds offers up one-of-a-kind hand painted furniture, jewelry, soaps, signs, chainsaw carved statues, lighting fixtures, and so much more. Lulu Birds is proud to host over 50 talented local artisans.

“My love for treasure hunting is a gene I inherited from my grandmother. My first apartment was filled with secondhand scores from thrift stores and rummage sales,” Ermert said.

Lulu Birds is not only a shop, but they are also offering up special events and work- shops, including painting classes and more, hosted by Samantha Herrmann. Visit their website & Facebook to see what they have coming up.

“I am so proud to be a small piece of the revitalization process of Downtown Kenosha!” Joy told Downtown Kenosha magazine. “I fell in love with Downtown Kenosha when I was a little girl. Coming down with my grandma was always a special treat. My favorite store by far was Furr By Us. My grandma always took us there. Unfortunately, as the years went by, so many of the mom and pop stores closed, the focus of Kenosha was moving west. But, I believe in our downtown and all the wonderful new businesses coming to the area.”

Joy and her staff will be happy to help you find a perfect piece of furniture or housewares. Stop in, to find that perfect item that’s calling your name.
