The House of Nutrition started in 1947 in Chicago as Kramer’s Health Foods. Two family members then opened a store in the uptown area of Kenosha as The House of Nutrition in the 1960’s. The store moved to Downtown Kenosha around 2007 and I purchased the business in Oct. of 2014. Since I purchased the store we have increased our inventory to include high-end supplements, a large inventory of CBD and many other products. The House of Nutrition acknowledges that the Downtown area is becoming more upscale and attracting tourists from all over the world. Due to these changing demographics we decided that we wanted to improve the look of the store. In honor of our five year anniversary we decided to update the store to meet the demands of our well educated customer base. We talked to several contractors about the new counter but their ideas did not stand out. Our neighbor Alex Kudrna from Backyard Dream Studios happened to come in to talk and he told me about his experience in construction, along with building and designing sets for Kenosha Unified. I asked him if he would be interested in remodeling our store and he said he would get back to me with a design plan. We thought his vision for the store was incredible so we told him he had the job. We could not be happier with the results. I encourage everyone to come in and see the beautiful wall and counter Alex made and step into The House of Nutrition to see the art and design of an original health food store with deep roots in Kenosha.
