The holidays are always very important to small businesses and to show our support we decided to find out what is going on this holiday season at Scoops (5711 8th Avenue) as we sit down with owner Julie Soldenwagner for this exclusive holiday Q&A.
How is your business prepared for the holiday season?
The inside of our store looks like a winter Christmas land. We play Christmas music inside the store and out on the patio.
Is Scoops doing anything special for the holidays this year?
All of our homemade goodies are decorated for Christmas. We have several different holiday flavors of our homemade fudge. We also have cocoa bombs and our Scoops Christmas mugs.
What is your overall favorite holiday memory?
I am the youngest of 10 children. I host Christmas Eve and everyone come to our home. At one time, we had 17 kids under the age of 9. Santa came to the party and passed out gifts – seeing the faces on the children was priceless.
What is the best holiday gift you ever received?
I had a large collage of my family and I growing up. In 2021, our house burnt down and we lost all our things. My husband redid my collage and surprised me for Christmas. He has asked all my siblings to help find the photos and make copies.
What is the worst holiday gift you ever received?
Nothing. Anything I received I loved because it was more about the person who gave it to me than the actual present.
