Holiday Memories w/ Shelley of Flat Iron Vintage

The holidays are always very important to small businesses and to show our support we decided to find out what is going on this holiday season at Flat Iron Vintage (2022 56th Street) as we sit down with owner Shelley Markiewicz for this exclusive holiday Q&A.

How is Flat Iron Vintage prepared for the holiday season?
At Flat Iron Vintage, we offer traditional Christmas decorations and more beautiful items to make your holiday festive. This includes holiday table linens, vintage serving pieces, and vintage barware and many more.

Is Flat Iron Vintage doing anything special for the holidays this year?
Everyday is special to us. We strive to keep our prices low and affordable to any budget. A gift from Flat Iron Vintage is guaranteed to be of high quality and one of a kind. Our vintage collectibles include art glass and pottery.

What is your overall favorite holiday memory?
All my Christmases were favorites and special in their own way as new traditions developed and our family and circle of friends grew.

What is your fondest Kenosha holiday memory?
I moved from Salem and bought my first house in Kenosha in 1985.  Growing up in the county, we always came to the “big city” of Kenosha to do our Christmas shopping downtown. We loved shopping at Barden’s, Garb’s, JC Penney, Andrea’s, Lepp’s, and The Leader Store. I loved walking from shop to shop as the snow was falling.

What is the best holiday gift you ever received?
My favorite Christmas gift was when I was 4 years old. I got a doll as tall as I was – I named her Nancy. I still have her and dress her for each holiday.

What is the worst holiday gift you ever received?
Worst “gift” was food poisoning at a company dinner!

Do you think you’re on Santa’s nice list or naughty list this year?
I think I’m on Santa’s “nice” list, although I think he’s giving me a pass on some “naughty”slip ups!
